Hispania Racing Team expected to run in Barcelona – Formula 1 news
HRT team is expected to run in the second Formula 1 pre-season test at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona after it was reported that the new car F112 has passed the mandatory crash tests of FIA this week.
HRT expected to test drive the new car in the second test but failed to pass just 2 out of all the mandatory tests, which were related to the lateral nose and the roll hoop.
“14 crash tests passed,” the team said. “Chassis approved but the two that failed (by minor margin) prevent us to have the car ready for the first Barcelona test.”
Afterwards, the team announced that it would not run in the second test and would focus on the development of the new car in order to make the significant changes and preparations for the last test and the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season.
Moreover, last year HRT could not be able to make its debut until the start of the last season at Australia and eventually failed to qualify. However, compared to the last year, the team has changed its staff and has different owners. Moreover, Pedro de
la Rosa has come as a new driver in the team.
HRT tested the last year’s F111 in the first test at the Jerez circuit, Spain and said that it was not sure that this car would be taken to the second test as an alternative.
However, HRT first planned to run in the test with their last year’s car but later changed their mind and refused to test run in the second test.
Nevertheless, the team has revealed that they have passed all the obligatory tests of FIA and will be permitted for the test drive in the second test on the coming Thursday while Rosa will test drive the new car.
AS newspaper reporter, Manuel Franco has expressed that HRT will feature at the second test as the new chassis has passed all the crash tests and it is expected that Rosa will be testing the new car behind the wheel.
“It is expected that he (de la Rosa) and his teammate Narain Karthikeyan will be in Catalonia,” said Franco.
