Hispania Racing Team feels positive regardless of difficulties faced – Formula 1 news
HRT feels positive for the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season starting off at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia this weekend regardless of the disappointment it faced during the pre-season testing.
Hispania Racing Team could not be able to test drive the new car in all the three pre-season tests held at Jerez and Barcelona circuits.
Nevertheless, during the filming day they managed to run 10 laps and gave a shakedown to the new car F112 before the first Grand Prix at Australia.
HRT driver Narain Karthikeyan has said that missing the pre-season tests was definitely not good for the team however, they needed to focus on the future now.
“Of course this was only a first contact and we didn’t push it to the limit but the important thing was to get the ball rolling. It’s not ideal to miss testing but we must look forward now,” said Karthikeyan.
Furthermore, he said that during the last season, were not be able to qualify for the race and he was trying to overcome on that for this season.
“Last year we only managed to complete five laps in the third practice session and failed to qualify for the race, so I’m looking to etch out that memory,” he added.
Karthikeyan’s teammate Pedro de la Rosa believed that they could develop the new car at Melbourne and continue to make the necessary improvements for the season ahead.
“We need to try and make the most of our time on Friday and Saturday morning to make it to qualifying and the race in the best possible conditions,” the Spaniard said.
HRT had made many changes in the team’s management as compared to the last season which included the replacement of Colin Kolles with Luis Perez-Sala who was the former F1 driver.
Moreover, Perez-Sala said that they had made some relentless efforts during the last three months and they were ready to perform well in the season ahead. He also said that he was proud of his team and they had worked really hard since the last race of 2011
at Brazil. Nonetheless, he said that the upcoming season would be hardest for them.
