Hispania Racing Team plans to make debut on final day at Barcelona – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team is planning to run its new car F112 on the last day of the third Formula 1 pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
Since the team had failed to pass all the mandatory crash tests of FIA, it could not run its car during the last week’s testing.
“14 crash tests passed,” the team said. “Chassis approved but the two that failed (by minor margin) prevent us to have the car ready for the first Barcelona test.”
Moreover, during the last season HRT failed to make a debut until the season opening at Australia and eventually failed to qualify.
However, in this year HRT have made many important changes in the team including new members of the staff and new owners. Furthermore, Pedro de la Rosa has joined the team as a new driver.
AS newspaper has recently expressed that HRT will run in the second test because it has passed all the necessary crash tests of FIA and it is anticipated that Pedro and his teammate, Narain Karthikeyan will be running the new car during the second test at
Barcelona.
HRT driver de la Rosa said that the team is planning to test drive the car on the final day of the second test and there is possibility that the car will be tested even on Monday which is the filming day.
“The truth is that, today, the goal is to try to debut on Sunday,” de la Rosa said. “If not, we would have the possibility to do a test on Monday ... We are in the construction phase of the car and it would be great to have it ready for Sunday.”
Furthermore, de la Rosa said that the new car has been designed to integrate Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) and if it will not be able to run during the start of the upcoming season, there are chances that it may incorporate the technology subsequently
during the year.
“It is designed to use it, but the team has decided to start the season without (KERS),” he said.
