Hispania Racing Team striving hard to attend final test – Formula 1 news
HRT is striving hard to attend the final test at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
The Spanish team has passed the remaining two mandatory crash tests and is working at its best to ensure its presence in the final test of its new car, F112.
HRT had failed to run with its new contender as it could not pass in the two crash tests concerning the car’s lateral nose and the roll hoop.
“14 crash tests passed,” the team said. “Chassis approved but the two that failed (by minor margin) prevent us to have the car ready for the first Barcelona test.”
Moreover, HRT could not be able to participate in the start of last year’s season in Australia and was disqualified. However, this year the team have made changes in its staff and its feeling quite encouraging for the forthcoming season.
Moreover, HRT and Marussia both have not tested their 2012 cars yet and the latter team have already confirmed that it will not be attending the test as its car has failed in the crash test. However, HRT team hopes to test drive its car during the last week
in Barcelona at least for one day from Thursday to Sunday.
“We cannot confirm anything yet,” an HRT spokesperson told GPUpdate.net on Wednesday morning. “We are working flat-out to get the car ready on time for Barcelona but we cannot say yet when we'll get there. We may be arriving on Saturday and testing Sunday,
but it will all depend on how the build-up goes. In a couple of days we'll be able to say for sure but, at this point, nothing is confirmed yet.”
During the first two days of the first pre-season test held at the Jerez Circuit in Spain, HRT’s new driver Pedro de la Rosa has run the last year’s car.
Moreover, Narain Karthikeyan who has been in HRT since the last year has not been behind the car’s wheel since the Indian Grand Prix in October 2011.
Nevertheless, HRT have passed all the tests now and the team have been pushing hard and looking forward to run the new car in the last test this week.
