Hispania Racing Team to skip Mugello test – Formula 1 news
Luis Perez-Sala, the team principal of Hispania Racing Team (HRT) has said that they are not going to the in-season test which is to be held at Mugello circuit, next week.
Moreover, he said that they have planned to miss the test at Mugello as they are aiming to upgrade their car F112 for the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix.
It will be interesting to mention that HRT could not be able to take part in any of the three pre-season tests this year and they also failed to qualify for the season opener which was held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
Furthermore, they have not been able to score even a single point in the season so far and are currently at the bottom of the constructors’ championship.
Besides, Perez-Sala said that the start of the season was quite rough for them because they could not manage to test run their car during the pre-season testing. In addition, he said that they don’t have the time to test their car at Mugello next week as
they earnestly need to make the essential advancements to enhance its pace for Spanish GP.
“The start to the season was a little bit rushed for us and, since the cars were set up for the first time, we have been working on them at the grands prix,” Perez-Sala said. “The team and the material have just got back from Bahrain after leaving for Australia
in early March. And they return, for the first time, to the team's new headquarters at the Caja Mágica in Madrid. This move is very important for us and by not going to Mugello we can work thoroughly on the car to prepare for the Spanish Grand Prix.”
HRT drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan are at 23rd and 24th place in the drivers’ championship after the first four races of the season.
Moreover, after failing to qualify for the first race in Australia, they have remained unable to show any good performance in any of the last three Grands Prix held in Malaysia, China and Bahrain.
