We know for a fact that leaders at the highest level of government have used psychics and experts on the paranormal. Reagan and his wife were said to have consulted with astrologers. But it goes much deeper than that. Both the Soviets and the Americans had secret departments which employed people who they believed had powers of ESP and similar skills. This was for the purpose of defense and national security.

I am not saying that I believe in ESP and psychic power, but I am making the point that the use of these people and their supposed powers in government agencies were commonplace as late as the mid 20th century, if not later.

And my question is: do you think this sort of thing still goes on today in the USA and in other nations?

  1. Yes, of course, but if society changes with such speed they will be in some decades only advanced  quantum mind=-chatters as all would be hrere and there/in space and moment/ at the same time -

  2. Given that most of the really important government decisions are made under conditions of high uncertainty, all sources of information, including psychic sources, are useful. So, knowing that some psychics are genuine and can provide useful information, my answer to the question is, I certainly hope so.

  3. Some government leaders even worship a mythical deity.

  4. Yes, but as with Remote Viewing it will only be confirmed 20 years from now when it is declassified. Of course depending on the nature of the information up to 90% will be blacked out before it is released. Isn't it wonderful that the US government is run by the people for the people?

As far as public officials, you know those that don't have National Security stamp on their desk, it would be interesting to conduct a survey as to how many congresspersons, senators, and supreme court justices do anything paranormal from reading their daily horoscopes to consulting psychic mediums in their personal lives.

Of course they may not tell you if they intend to run for reelection so it might have to be ex politicians that are surveyed.

  5. No, the leaders of the US don't use psychics or astrologers to provide them with scientifically unsound premises on which to base their policies and decisions; they use Christian fundamentalist preachers for that.

  6. Well the regime leader of what was known as Burma when I was a kid, and is now known as Myarmar(?), still employs a phsychic and bases all of his decisions on thier predictions.

The US goverment still runs experiments on ESP, and etc, but these are really limited and the most serious study is based in Area 54 along with the anti-matter studies.

  7. People at all levels of society have nutty beliefs, but I think govt officials who consult psychics pay for it out of their own pockets, or so we assume.

  8. Well they are no different to politicians anyway - con-artists and rip-off merchants the lot.

  9. If they do it's a personal thing.I doubt the government itself is spending money.I'd hate to think of government by oracles and vestal virgins. Some pretty smart people buy into astrology.I'd bet a paycheck it didn't play to big a part in the Reagan Government. He may have just bee humoring his wife.
