History Board Game!?

Question

I have to do a board game for a project in history. I decided to cover WWI, but wanted to mdel the playing board and characters after the way at vimy ridge. What ideas can you give me? What should I make the characters out of? What shoulod the landscape be? Please give creative and detailed answers. Thanks!

May I suggest you actually play some games about WWI and decide which factors you would exclude and include into your design? Avalon Hill's Diplomacy or Origins of World War I by Jim Dunnigan (in the book Gamut of Games by Sid Sackson) would be a good beginning.
