Was it reasonable for Great Britain to expect the colonies to help pay for the French and Indian War and for their own defense? Why or why not?

  1. No, not really, the Stamp act and writs of assistance were a heavy tax burden on the Colonies, it was unreasonable to tax the Colonies so severely, this is what led up to the American Revolution.

I am of the opinion that it was an unreasonable expectation.  The colonies were the responsibility of the crown.  And to that end, it should have been up to the crown to provide them with the necessary protection AND, because the crown demanded that the colonies pay a tax on any commerce, it could be viewed that they were already paying for the French and Indian Wars.
