History backs Detroit Tigers to complete ALCS sweep – MLB Update

In some ways, New York Yankees find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Only for the fourth time in history of post-season series, they are down 0-3.
This is not the kind of history they were keeping in mind when they welcomed the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium in New York last week. Yankees wanted to use their home conditions as a bridge to World Series finals but that did not turn out to be the case.
Tigers’ pitching rotation dominated their opponents in first two games at Yankee Stadium to take a vital 2-0 series lead. Anibal Sanchez and Doug Fister pitched with great control and accuracy to make quick work of Yankees’ batting line-up.
Riding their strong and dominant rotation, the Tigers are now looking to reach the World Series finals for the second time in last six years.
"We're trying to put together good at-bats," said Eric Chavez in a post game interview. "You're trying to do whatever you can, but we continue to not swing the bats good.”
Game 4 of ALCS was postponed on Wednesday evening due to predicted rain storms. On Thursday, Tigers’ Max Scherzer will be taking on Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia at Comerica Park in Detroit. With home conditions working in their favour, Leyland and company
will have an excellent chance to complete a deserving series victory.
"They are going to come ready to attack me," Scherzer said, "so I have to be ready to attack them."
"As cold as we are," Sabathia said, "we can get just as hot, especially with our lineup and the veterans we have and great players we have.”
"We always have faith that if you gout and do your job, you are going to score runs. And we have all year."
Furthermore, in the previous three post-season series they fell behind, the Yankees were swept. History is certainly offering their fans more pain than the struggling Yankees’ offence.
Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher, Raul Ibanez and Robinson Cano will have to take more responsibility on their shoulders to help their side come out of the slump. The Yankees will be looking to put up a tremendous performance and try to save
themselves in the ALCS.
