History books that covers Muslim/moors?

I'm reading a historical fiction book which covers the crusades slightly. I found the bit about the (what they called) moors interesting. I would like to know more about the historical aspect of the Muslim religion.

If you can recommend any books that you know of that would be great. (It doesn't have to be about the crusades too)

  1. I am a muslim.

If you want to read more books on muslims and the history then if you go to a mosque, go to the shops and all the books will be translated in english. They will all include the beginning of the earth, aswell as the consequences on being bi-sexual-L*****n-g*y. And so on. I had to go to a mosque and learn abut it when I was little so this should hopefully help you ! ! !

  2. Islam and the Problem of Israel by Ismail Al-Farooqi is really good and does talk about the Crusades to some extent, and the history of Palestine. But to tell you the truth if you just get a Quran, the Yusuf Abdullah Ali translation, there are so many historical footnotes. Also look for books by Shaykh Fadhlallah Haeri.

The Best Book of history I think is:

    Tareekh e Ibne-Khaladoon (author name)

Also one book is Tareekh ul Kholafa

I am a Urdu reader so I dont know if they are available in English.

  4. I'm not so sure what book suits you in English, but if you can find a book the tells the life of prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) I guess you will have great idea about Islam and it's always interesting to read it as a story.

  5. I haven't read it but the sufis of Andalusia by Ibn Arabi should be pretty interesting . Years ago i read a book written by a Jewish writer about jews living during the muslims rule is Spain and that was informative altho i can't recall the title nor the name of the author now . Books written BY writers who lived during that period i find to be far more interesting than books written about it. I must have been born in the wrong century .

I dream of living in Andalusia back in the hey days , that was such a  great moment in Islamic history .
