so, yeah, we have to write a historical narrative in school about an event in history. it's not supposed to be about something really well known like the signing of the declaration of independence, but maybe something a little obscure. does anyone have any ideas about any forgotten, interesting historical events? (i would prefer world history as opposed to american history, if you can)

  7. Well, there is the Trent Affair which is both US and British history. This nearly lead to war between the US and Britian at the time.

  8. Since you're still in school, this would probably be obscure to the other students but familiar to the teacher. Consider Iran Contra. This event involved a national security advisor to Regan selling arms to Iran and using the proceeds to support the Contras battle in Nicauragua. The activity was illegal because of the Boland Amendment which prohibited using US funds to support the Contras. Oliver North thought he had a loop hole because of the round about way the funds were obtained. It caused a huge scandal and resulted in the firing and prosecution of several parties. There was also a Congressional investiagion to determine if Regan and Bush were involved and approved of the activity.
