History? i need to know the century?

Question

I'm really bad with years can you please tell me from what year to what year was the first century, second century and so on to now i can't find it anywhere i'm surprised my history book doesn't say it. Thank you

I am assuming you are basing your century dates from Jesus' birth. How unfortunate:

First Century: 0-99

Second Century: 100-199

Third Century: 200-299

etc etc

Tenth Century: 900-999

Eleventh Century: 1000-1099

Twelfth Century: 1100-1199

etc etc

Nineteenth Century: 1800-1899

Twentieth Century: 1900-1999

Twenty-First Century: 2000-2099

Ignore the cretins with their year zero and 99-year first century.

There is no year zero.

First century: 1-100

Second century: 101-200, and so on.

the first century was 1 to 99 ad, the second was 100 to 199 ad, the 3rd was 200 to 299 ad, and so on, for example the 1900s was the 20th century

This is an age old argument that resurfaced at the time of the Millennuim celebrations 1999-2000.  The traditionalists felt that celebrations should be left until the end of the 20th century (in the year 2000) as the old Millennium ended with 2000 and the new Millennium commenced 01/01/2001.  However the majority of the general public deemed the Millennum to end on 31/12/1999 so the traditionalists view point fell by the wayside.  

So, traditionally centuries run from 01 to 00 eg 1901-2000, 2001-2100.

I expect though this tradition will change with time and that's probably for the better.

4th century: 300-399

5th century: 400-499

6th century: 500-599
