im writing a monolgue for a project on Australia during the great depression - taking on a character from the 1930's. i was hoping for some input on the topic - sources, ideas, and also for an example of an australian accent at the time. are there any movies set in aus at the time? many thanks

First - I'd pick a occupation -- like a Farmer as most of Australian puopulation was connected to farming at this time.  Then - what happens, economy dries up, farm foreclosed?, move to city?, move to other farm/country?  Describe the change in culture from small town/independant farmer to city-dweller at the lowest rungs.

Take a look at this website....sounds promising.  Also - there is a quote from a Depression survivor recalling the hardships.  Maybe you could find a copy of the tape/CD??  Lowenstein, Wendy.
