History question about the Marines

I have heard that there was a group of Marines in some country where they dropped the flag and the regime isn't allowed to come back into the USA, is there any truth to this and what country are they in?

Never heard of this before..and do you really think they would not allow an entire USMC unit back into the USA because of a mistake?

Over a flag? Some cloth with meaning? Never...we had an Army unit I was in lose their regimental colors in the War of 1812 at the battle for Washington D.C. The British still have them in the London and that unit is still around and has been for 150 years.

This is actually true. The unit I beleive surrendered the flag and was not allowed to return to the states. That unit is only in Okinawa. I beleive it is part of 5th Marines. I am not complete on the facts but I did hear this a few times and I am a Marine. You should try looking up something on the History of the 5th Marines. But there is a unit stuck on Oki.
