  1. I don't really want to offend anyone for fear of trolls turning me in for being offensive, but I've always thought that the majority of Y!A is for people too lazy to look the answers up themselves.  But that's ok, because it's gotten me this far here.  So I have those people to thank.  I'll do a little bit of their homework for them, but not all of it.

  2. I agree to a certain extent.  In this day and age, the computer, the internet and networking are part of academic life.  Unfortunately, what it is doing is enabling many in this generation to concentrate less and look for the quickest way of getting a job done.  Another answerer has already suggested this and I agree.  People needing help with homework should post on the "Homework Help" category.

As an aside, one of my pet peeves relating to the History section is the indiscriminate use of Wikipedia.  It is not recognized as a credible and reliable academic site.  It may well develop into one but at this time it is really nothing more than a quick source.  In my classes (and I teach history) Wikipedia cannot be used as a source.  The internet has the potential to be the greatest learning and teaching tool of the last millenia but at this point in its history most students accept what is on line as fact and anything viewed on the screen is there for public consumption.  We are seeing a real erosion in the integrity of academic research and the ability of people to think beyond what is presented before them.

  3. The kiddies need help sometimes - they have a lot of difficulty picking out important facts when they have to read something, I find.

If anyone's annoying, tell them to go do their hmk (leave 'do your hmwk' on clipboard, copy and paste it continuously?)- We get points that.

  4. Me. I 100% agree with you. It is really annoying when they want their homework done, and oh so obvious when they just copy it exactly word for word into the question...

  5. i don't mind helping people out but you're right, it does become annoying at times. think of it this way, whenever you help someone out with their homework, you can have a feeling of superiority.

  6. I don't mind too much.  What does annoy me is when people post multiple cut & paste multiple choice questions.  And American kids (sorry my American friends, it is always Americans) who post a question like:  "Why did the Civil War happen?" - without referring to which civil war.

And answerers who just cut & paste Wikipedia articles.

  7. I agree... if they want help with their homework, they should take it to HOMEWORK HELP and not try to hide it as a question on History.
