4) I think all funded research into a passage to Asia that didn't have to go through Muslim lands. The portugese went South around Africa, the English and French went to find the Northwest passage- and I suspect the Dutch did the same. (Hudson River, bay; St Lawrence, Quebec)

8) the Ancient Greeks.  They had already calculated the circumference of the earth, millennia before Columbus. So it was already known that he was wrong when he calculated the circumference at 10,000 miles.  But I doubt that is what your teacher is looking for.....

10) D, though disease was by far the biggest factor, since it killed the King & crown prince & plunged the empire into civil war.

11) Assist the English, and anyone else that could take a Spanish galleon. I recall something about all the $ that came into Spain went right back out to buy goods, so I'd guess D

12) Modern humans are thought to have come over during the last ice age.  30,000 is the best answer, since 100,000 modern man wasn't evolved, or at least not out of Africa.

14) e- all of the above. They had some communicable diseases, but nothing like Europe. They used mostly stone tools, not metal. And there was a great diversity of cultures, ranging from the tip of Alaska to the tip of South America.
