History through Film class?

I am teaching a history through film class this summer. I was wondering if anyone has taught a class like this and if so, how did you teach it?

I am actually a high school student...This quesiton intrigued me because it sounded like fun.

How it seems like, to me anyways, you should introduce the camera's and teach people good shooting tecnique, then give them a topic to research. Then they could make a movie on the topic that they have to research.

You could grade them both on how well the movie was shot, and if they have included enough historical elements in the documentary... (you just need to decided how many is enough beforehand!)
