i've been on a plan to lose weight for almost 2 months now... I work out 6 days a week 45 min cardio and then 2 days a week I'll do some weights at the gym on the machines. (I'm always very sore the next day)

I'm 5'8 started at 195 and now i'm at 183... I've lost inches off my waist and hips but the last 2 weeks i've been at a standstill... I've increased the intensity with the cardio and cut down to about 1200 cals a day but I still seem to be at a standstill... I feel like i'm getting so discouraged because i'm working so hard but not seeing the results.

what can I do to get over this? I'd appreciate any help thank you

  1. If you've gotten yourself into a routine with what you eat, change it up a bit...eat some different foods (that are still in your healthy eating plan) and weigh yourself once a week.  Your weight will start to decrease again.  I totally understand your frustration.  I lost 90 pounds 2 years ago, and there were a couple of times that I hit a plateau  They never lasted more than a couple of weeks at a time, but it seemed like forever then.  You are DOING GREAT!!  I know people are telling you this, but muscle does weigh more than fat, and converting your fat into muscle is a good thing!  It will lead to increased metabolism and then the weight will start coming off again.  You may want to increase your strength training sessions to 3 a week and do 3 cardios.  Strength training often gets the short shrift and it's SO important!

  2. You are exercising enough so i would look to your diet.  What are you actually eating.  You should try cutting back on the amount of carbs you eat if you want to lose weight.,  I would suggest cutting out all white bread and potatoes completely.  Only eat wholemeal pasta or brown rice - never white pasta and white rice.  Start eating more vegetables and fruit snacks.  You will notice weight loss after a week by trying this low carb route.

  3. 1200 calories a day is pushing too few.... your metabolism could be slowing down because of the lack of calories.  youre weight loss standstill could be caused by an increase in muscle mass... keep at it
