I was in the rush to work this morning and bumped into a car ahead of me this morning, since there was a traffic jam so I couldnt get the car to the shoulder side, and i look at the back of the car in front, there is no damage can be seen so I just took off when traffic smooth out, the other driver did went through the traffic to the shoulder tho. After i got to work i checked the damage on my car only the front car plate is bannded. I think she got my license plate number as she was pulling over, so what should i do now to ensure myself not getting into some deeper troubles.

  1. Couldn't hurt to talk to the police and tell them you didn't think there was any damage, but....      They're not going to do anything to you just for reporting it. And probably not anything if the other person complained, other than maybe cite you for failure to report, which is minor. Chances are the other person didn't report it when they found little or no damage. Of, if they did, I can tell you that maybe one in ten people seem to manage to get a correct plate.

  2. ur ****** if she files a police report cuz hit and run is a felony in some states you better go to the local pd and file a report cuz she can press charges and hit and run is a serious crime and its a FELONY and you can go to jail for long time... but if she didnt file a police report i wouldnt worry about it

  3. Well about all you could do would be to call the police and tell them what happened.

  4. This hit and run didnt happen to be on the corner of Hollywood Blvd in Los Angeles did it?

  5. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime in itself.  Best bet is to contact the police in that area to see if you were reported.  Sounds dumb to do, but if they have to go looking for you, which could happen, they will be much less understanding.

  6. if she got your plate, your boned.  leaving the scene is a crime my man....shoulda pulled off.

  7. The thing is... how sure are you that you didn't chip the paint on the other car if your plate was bent?  Hit and run is an expensive ticket. Maybe finding the other person to explain is an option?

    Found this online...

"In California, what is commonly called “HIT AND RUN” is codified in Vehicle Code Section 2002 which provides: Any person failing to comply with all the requirements of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six months, or by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that imprisonment and fine.”

  8. Okay,

First off, remain calm. Because if you get all negatively excited about the situation people usually respond negatively as well in which you'll end up in a law suit for pissing the person off. So remain calm.

No, you probably shouldn't have just left the crime scene, but hey, your human. And honestly I probably would have done the same thing depending on how bad I hit the car.

The only thing that there is left for your to do is to simply wait. If there isn't any damage done to the car, and that person is an honest person, I don't see a developing problem. They will simply let it go instead of going through all the scenerios of how to sue you.

However, if there was damage, then you definitely have something to worry about. Especially if that person got your license plate number. The courts aren't easy on hit and run criminals (not to worry you).

So for now, just hang back and wait. If nothing happens in the next couple of weeks or so try to put it on the back burner, but DON'T forget about it.

Take this as a lesson learned.

    Good Luck and God Bless.
