Hit and run, injured on crosswalk, felony? misdemeanor?

my friend hit a guy on crosswalk, didnot stop, he wanted to turn himself in but after about 2 hours police came and towed the car so he didnt go nowhere because it was obvious already, so he'll go there on monday and tell the story how it was, guy on Xwalk was drunk and had beer in his hand, his hand and leg was injured but his alive :) what should he expect on court or in police station while taking the car back?

Regardless of the guy was drunk, it was a cross walk and the guy was a pedestrian and your friemd didn't stop plus he drove off after he hit the guy. That does not sound so good in his favor
