Hit and run - sc - need help car accident?

alright so i hit a car this morning. the driver got out of the car looked at her car and left. since this was in my neighborhood she came back with her brother and threatened to call the police saying that i drove off. even though she was in front of me and there was no way i could have drove off. she wants me to pay for the damage or she would call the cops. if she calls the cops what would the consequences be who would be in more trouble. even though the accident was my fault she was one to leave the scene first.

the car is not even damaged that bad. it is tiny scratch. they said they are coming back with a estimate tomorrow. what should i do pay it or let her call the cops. i think they are bluffing but not sure.

  1. Just give her your insurance information.

Very unfortunate neither of you were killed.

  2. Call the Police,Should resolve the problem.

  3. Record the conversation, dont call the cops, its not a big deal unless they make it into one.

  4. even if its your fault call the cops yourself and let them know what happen... cuz they sound like ppl who will take matter in their own hands... that would be worst.

  5. Yea, their bluffing. Let em' call the cops. And if it's your fault, and only a tiny scratch, it shouldn't be that much money to pay for it. And when the cops come, point out to them that she left the scene.

    Good luck!

  6. In minor accidents most of the time police don't come out anyway, they tell you to exchange info.and let the ins. co. handle it. As far as hit and run, Its your word against hers. If she did not call right then she can't claim hit and run.If she returns with an estimate tell her you will turn it in to your insurance co.and have them contact her. If she don't insist on the info don't sweat it. Neither of you need a accident on record.

  7. call the insurance company and report it

is the a witness if so find them if it was in the neighborhood

  8. looks like since the cops werent called in the first place its your word against hers...u didnt leave...she did....if she dosent have insurance and u dont and no violation was reported at the time of the accident, then how do u determine who pays....if u know someone who fixes cars....mayb u should ck into that and pay for it yourself....never know she could come back with a estimate thats not on the up and up...check on it yourself

  9. if she said it to you in a mean way den you should call the cops LOL,

but seriously, im not even old enough to drive, and i know you are supposed to call the cops and take pictures during any type of motor vehicle accident. if the cops are asked to come then great!

if push comes to shove, it can always be sttled in court, just tell the cops she brought her brother back and then decided to threaten you, but it shouldn't be made into a serious matter. if you think you should just pay, then pay. but if you really want to be able to clear your name( from her ver takin you to court sayin you neva paid) den just call da cops

  10. First,   you hit her,  you said so.   You are responsible for the damage.    If you don't like their estimate,   tell them to get more.   How many lying body shops can they know.     Take pictures of the damage yourself,  they may come in handy.

She left and went to get her brother.   Without exchanging information.   Call the police yourself!    Charge her with leaving the scene and tell her to stuff her little threats ......    To be honest,  sounds like they are bluffing.

Take pictures.    Require at least 3 estimates.    Do I need to repeat that?    If something comes up later,  this will help you greatly.

  11. Sounds like she maybe trying to play you.  If she left the scene first then she couldnt claim you did.  Did you exchange insurance info ??

  12. If I were you I would call and make a report first.  Call and tell them that you were in a minor parking accident and tell them that you exchanged information but you want a report to be made.  This way they cant come back at you for a hit and run.  If you have insurance, and if they do. I would recommend you suggesting to go through the insurance angency.  If you do not have insurance then just make sure you see a copy of the report from whomever they go through to fix it.  You can always just get the name and number of the company and give them a call too.  If they refuse, then you atleast have the fact that you called and made a report first.  You should also be able to call your insurance company and ask their opinion also.

  13. YOU call police and tell them what happened before she does. You will not be in trouble. If you pay for it you will save your insurance from going up but it's your call. For a couple hundred bucks I would not turn it in to insurance but get something in writing from her that you paid for it. Be carefull there are lots of people that wana pull a fast one in a situation like this.

  14. Bluffing or not let that liitle I3itch call the cops.

Her tacky character will be evidence enough for the cop or the insurance agencies.

Because after you report this to your insurance company (which you need to do within a few days) they will have to then discuss with her insurance carrier.

Both insuance co.'s will have to agree on something.

  15. you call the cops and explain what happened that way you have your side of the story on file.

  16. call the police and report it.  she may get in trouble for leaving the scene of an accident.  Also, if she reports it as a hit and run, they have your side of the story on file already.

do not pay her tomorrow.  ask her to get at least three accidents.  that way you know you're not getting ripped off.

I know its just a small scratch, but if its really deep they may need to repaint most of the bumper.  It's crazy how fast damages add up.  I got rearended and only had a few little scratches that were only noticable when the car was washed or wet.  The estimate from the insurance adjuster was over 600 bucks.  So, you may have to go through your insurance company for this one.  So, you can either pay it out of pocket, get the insurance involved, or let her sue you.  Either way, eventually you'll have to pay for the damages if she wants to get it repaired.

  17. Call the police NOW for your protection before it comes back to bite you really bad....

  18. If her brother has "anger issues" I suggest contacting the police and your insurance company so they can deal with it. You need to watch out for people like that. You never know what will set them off.

  19. Call the police and ask for a "self reporting" form.  Tell them what happened, and I would ask them to "stand by" if she returns.  She sounds like a kook to me.

Bluffing or not -- she knows where you live and you don't want to have to look over your shoulder for her.  It's not a crime to hit a car; it was an accident.

  20. call the cops before she does and tell them exactly what happened, you should have called the cops right away just to protect your a$$, but she will get in trouble for leaving the scene

also how could you have left the scene when it was right in front of your house in your neighborhood, she must be a total idiot

  21. PAY you could get arrested
