Hit and run... sorta

I acidently backed up an dbumped a car that was parked behind me. i went inside to find the owner to get her insurance but no one would claim the car. so i left now the owner want to file a claim and ive been contacted by police ... how much trouble am i in. i did try to do the right thing. help from nc!!!!

Well you did not hit and run. You did try to tell the person you hit their car and they did not come foward so I would not worry to much. Youshould not be in any trouble. Just tell the police what happened and that you did in fact try to find the owner but nobody claimed the car. It will be ok!

You may be in a little trouble.You should have left a note or called the police.

They could get real nasty about it,I have been there,the next time that happens leave a note on there windshield with your info,get a lawyer.

Just tell the police what happen and what you tried to do and you will be okay but if this should happen again it would be best to call the police and get this on file so that the other person does not come back at you with a big list of damages.....
