  1. Don't forget to grip the racket tight.  Speaking of volleys specifically, keep the racket out in front and up, not down, and don't get lazy, hold the racket firm.  And volleys don't always have to be hit so hard.  I've always loved a good drop volley when someone tries to kill a passing shot by me.

Get a gripping exercise device, you can practice with that anytime such as when you're watching a great Wimbledon match on TV.  :D

  2. just practice your swing repeatedly. keep the racket straight while hitting the ball. bend your legs. put your body behind your hits, its not all in the arms.

    hope this helps

  3. Something no one has mentioned yet - TIMING is EVERYTHING, and that comes with nothing but experience.  I would get some good muscle memory on your ground strokes and then use that knowledge to get the timing down and maximize the return velocity.

Otherwise, how could people like Justine Henin ever get any pace?

  4. it is mainly because they are experienced and strong. you will begin to hit it hard with experience from practicing a lot. a good exercise would be to find a big brick wall, side of a building or wall at a tennis court and hit it hard and you will get better. good luck!

  5. Volleys: keep your arm and wrist straight nd hold the racquet tight. The key to a good volley is continental grip and a good angle.

Ground Strokes: keep a regular swing but accelerate through the swing. The more you practice this, the faster you will be able to accelerate through andthe more power you will have on the ball. Don't forget to bend your legs and keep your arm straight while swinging through it.

Some physical exercises would just be strengthening your wrists by stress balls and weight lifting.

Good luck in your future tennis game!
