  1. In January 1919, after Germany's defeat in World War I, a new government was formed in Weimar, which was to be known as the "Weimar Republic". Its constitution established a democratic federal republic later that year. It provided a parliament of two houses- the Reichstag and the Reichrat. and a president. The chancellor was appointed by the president. The Weimar Republic was weak from the start. Meanwhile the victorious Allies who had won World War I had adopted the "Versailles Treaty" which blamed Germany for World War I. Germany was forced to pay France a huge indemnity. In 1922 and 1923, the economy collapsed when inflation ruined the value of German money. For awhile things improved. But with the Stock Market crash in 1929 in the U.S. and the Great Depression a worldwide economic depression began. Millions of German were unemployed. The Weimar government was powerless to act. Most Germans lost faith in their government. More and more people voted with the National Socialists (n***s) or the Communists. These two groups fought pitched battles in the citiies of Germany. The n***s increased their seats in the Reichstag. More and more Germans supported its leader, Adolf Hitler. Most Germans felt that their country had been humiliated. The n***s fed off this discontent. They also took advantage of the rising tide of anti-semitism. In1932 the n**i Party emerged as the Reichstag's strongest party. On January 30, 1933 President Von Hindenberg had no choice but to appoint Hitler Chancelor. But after Von Hindenberg died in 1934, Hitler had the offices of President and Chancelor combined. So he appointed himself as the sole ruler, "der Fuhrer", of Germany. He abolished all other political parties. The n***s seized control of the courts, the newspapers, the police, and the schools. People who opposed the n***s were murdered or imprisoned. He was loved by the German people so he was able to get away with this. I hope that this has been a help to you.

  2. The Weimar Republic began as a provisional government during the final days of WW1. From late 1929-1933 the Weimar Republic was characterised by economic depression and mounting right-wing power. So Hitler, having failed to become a professional artist, started dabbling in politics. And he started mixing in political extremist circles in Munich. And you know he was a good orator...very good...so he became like a 'saviour' to the Germans who were going through c**p. Hitler was an oportunist. Also, I think von Hindenburg had no other choice than to choose hitler.

  3. well germany was really pressured and in a state of depression due to the treaty of versailes, and wen hitler became leader, he took them out of that state, and promised them everything they could ever want. at 1st, he was a good leader that lead his people well. it wasnt untill after this did he start doing things out of line, and the other counties just thought of him as the silly little man with the mustache who would never start the genocide or w.e we call the holocaust.
