Hitman gets the long awaited hit of victory
The Hitman of darts Chris Thompson was finally able to hit the breakthrough after defeating World Championship semi-finalist Dennis Smith, by 6-1, at the Spanish Darts Trophy, held in Benidorm.
The victory came as spectacular news for Chris as it was a victory he desperately required to continue his career in darts as effectively as possible.
It was his second consecutive victory after he defeated Ignacio Basullas with the same difference in scores.
However, this streak of victory could not last long, as he had to taste defeat at the hands of Jerry Hendricks in his very next encounter.
Things backfired for Hendricks in his very next match against reigning champion Arron Monk at the event.
Monk was able to easily chuck his opponent out from the game by taking him over with a 6-1 difference in scores.
Another important darts player that must be mentioned here is Terry Temple who, despite many claims, could not produce the performance anticipated from him.
He had to face disqualification from both events in the very first rounds. In his opening encounter, he had to face a humiliating defeat at the hands of World No. 3 in darts, James Wade, by 6-3.
This was later followed by his defeat against Dean Winstanley at the BDO World Championship by six legs to four.
Thompson, like other players, was provided a launch pad in the game of darts by BDO of which he became a part in the year 1997.
However, it was his breakthrough performance at the 2010 PDC Pro Tour that clearly demonstrated the skills and potentials he has the ability to show in the game of darts.
In one of his matches, he proved his worth by defeating legendary player like Phil Taylor.
It was later on the basis of his performance delivered in the entire event he was offered the Wild Card to play for PDC.
He successfully made it into the PDC World Championship in 2011 and was later defeated by Colin Osborne.
It is important to mention here that Chris does not play darts on entirely professional basis.
He works for a law firm in York for his bread and butter, but with the performances he has been able to deliver, he can think of shifting his career to full time darts in due course.
