  1. If you are travelling from teeside airport, there is only one train a week to Darlington and that is on a saturday, You will have to get the train fromm Darlington to leeds which is about 1 hour. The best website to go on is www.nationalexpresseastcoast.co.uk.

    Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!

  2. The difference in seating is minimal - as another answer has said. The only advantage is that you won't get crowded in 1st. The difference in fares is, however phenomenal. Assuming you are come back the same day you can get a cheap day return for £23.30 - the only 1st return is opne and will cost you £68.00. You can get an open 2nd return for £34.40. Quite honestly, I wouldn't pay the difference.

  3. An hour and a half? Is the train horse-drawn? I can drive from Newcastle to Leeds quicker than that.

  4. In cost or in comfort?

The first class seating on the Trans-pennine stock is not really much different from the standard version, so I would not bother. First is only significantly better to use on the inter-city operators (NatEx, FGW, etc).

For fares, look up the operator's website.
