Alexander Hleb who has struggled for fitness ever since his loan move came through to Birmingham City from Barcelona in the Spanish Primera Division was reported quite unhappy with the fact that he missed Birmingham’s draw with Chelsea two weeks ago.
The Champions were held at the Saint Andrew stadium by the resilient Premier League side but Hleb didn’t feature for Birmingham as he didn’t have sufficient enough fitness levels according to his manager.
Alex McLeish, Birmingham’s first team manager elaborated on the situation as he said,
“I've repeatedly told him that he is not fit enough to start games. He was disappointed not to start against
Chelsea… A top player thinks he can just walk into the team - but it doesn't work like that.”
McLeish is also pushing Nikola Zigic to make a bigger impact on Birmingham’s matches. The Serbian was bought by McLeish in the summer transfer window for six million pounds from Valencia in the Spanish league. The ex-Aberdeen player said,
“It is about telling him to attack the ball because in Europe he probably only heads the ball three or four times in a game, and it's the same with
Serbia.”
Meanwhile newspaper reports in Italy and England have suggested that Inter Milan are preparing a mega scoop for Arsenal’s captain Cesc Fabregas to solve their problems. Inter who parted ways with Jose Mourinho in the summer and replaced him with Benitez,
have had a woeful start to the Serie A.
Arsene managed to convince Fabregas to stay with Arsenal in the summer but Inter Milan’s president Massimo Moratti has come out in the press and stated that Inter are not in contact with the Spanish midfielder for a move to San Siro.
There has been recent talk in the Italian media about Inter’s possible move for Antonio Cassano who is set to leave Sampdoria sooner rather than later due to his differences with the Genoa club’s president. Manchester City are also supposedly interested
in Antonio’s services who has become some sort of a cult hero at Sampdoria after failing to impress at Real Madrid earlier on in his career.
Moratti was quick to pour cold water over these heated rumours that have linked the former Roma man to a move to Inter Milan and said,
“These are just rumours that don't match the truth. His arrival is fantasy football.”
