if trees could scream, would we be so nonchalant about cutting them down? but what if they screamed all the time, what about then?

Knowing the human race, we'd still do it. We kill innocent animals such as pigs as they squeal(which is a heart wrenching noise) so I don't see much difference.

Then the woods wouldn't be such a nice place to ride - way too noisy.

People would probably cut all the trees down just to stop the noise.

XD i like this question. if they screamed when being cut we wouldn't want to cut them anymore because it would be considered murder so then we are left to make alternative wood replacing materials. but if they where to scream all the time it would become a nascence and then people would be cutting them down 100's at a time. and the hippies would come up with an alternative solution: putting big sound proof borders around them... and then there would be a big debate on the subject. XD

You'd just have to wear ear plugs, which i'm pretty sure they where anyways.  Maybe if they could bleed then people would just start using hemp because it's a much more renewable resource than lumber.
