  1. Becoming a poker pro takes a lot of practice and time. First you need to know the definition of poker pro. That is usually just someone who makes a living off poker. If that is your goal then it is fairly simple if you know where to start. Being a recognized pro is much different and you will need to pay your dues before you are the next Phil Ivey.

i would recommend starting off by reading this free book called Make a Living With Online Poker available here! http://www.winpokercash.com

  2. This question depends highly on the type of poker you wish to play.  Certainly reading books and studying the game will get you the technical/statistical experience and playing will get you the feel of the table and reading opponents.

I'm going to Las Vegas on Thursday for 11 days, and when I sit down to the poker tables I play one of two ways depending on the type of game I am playing.

If I am playing a table game (I prefer Texas Hold'em) my strategy is to find the loose gambling type and wait for the right cards.  It takes a lot of patience, but you want a slow steady rake (this is one of the advantages of Texas Hold'em is that you are not required to 'ante' on every hand).  If you come across someone who will call anything you bet, make sure you have the right hand to go to the river.

If I am playing a tournament style game, I get aggressive with hands that have a better than 16% chance of winning in a 9 person game.  This sounds like a low percentage, but you must remember that even Pocket Aces only win 30-31% of the time on a 9 person table.  So get aggressive with the hands that are likely to payoff.  Slow Playing & Bluffing have their moments, but it is aggressive betting that will pay off in the long run.

    Hope some of this helps.

  3. Your name says you already are. Hehe.

Well you want to study lots, get all the good books and read them and read web sites with good articles about poker strategy.

Always work on improving your game and play poker every day or a lot. If you find you're doing something wrong then change it. Don't stick to the same style if it's not working for you.

Then I guess once you have the game pretty much mastered then you play in the big tournaments and play in big cash games and see if you have what it takes.

Just don't risk too much of your bankroll until you have it built up enough to support a losing streak. Start small and work your way up to it, don't just jump into it.
