If you have a Trader Joes or World Market in your area, you can get some inexpensive wine for about $3 a bottle. You might want to get some and try before buying in bulk. Below are some urls for websites that have calculators to help you figure out how much to buy.

Unless you're planning on having an open bar, I'd stick with just beer and wine.  For a fancier party, make it just wine and champagne.  figure one liter for every three people, so about 100 liters.  that's about 20 boxes of cheap box wine or, if you by it in bottles, about 10 cases.

I agree w/ first guy: stick w/ beer and wine only.  You can buy wine by the case cheaper at Costco or Sam's, but watch your sale papers and you may find a decent brand cheap.  Buy it early if needed to save money.

The rule of thumb is that you get 5 glasses of wine per 750 ml bottle.  And I'd consider a keg for the beer.
