Ho to know if kitty has her first heat

Question

My kitty is about 4 months. How do I know if she already had her first heat or how to know if she's in it.

vet told me to sterilize her at 5 months..I'm afraid he may have her first heat before that.

It's not always as easy to tell with every cat, especially young ones. Not all cats will make the yowling "love me" ballads and splay themselves out for anyone who may want to give them affection.

Consult with your vet. It is recommended to have them fixed around 5 months, because they need to be a certain weight in regards to the anesthesia they'll be given.

If you're worried in the meantime, keep her indoors. It isn't uncommon for kitties to be pregnant when they are fixed. Again, this is something you can discuss with her vet. I tend to keep my cats indoors until after they are fixed, nowadays, all I have are indoor cats.

You will definitely know.  They try to get out the house and meow all the time.  If I called my cat she would bounce her butt up and down.

I rushed to get her to the vet.

Kittens are able to go into heat at an early age and that's why vets in the U.S. are spaying them very early now.

the average age a cat has her first heat is when they are 6 months old.

OR

they can get it sooner if she is more the 4 pounds
