Hobby Suggestions?

I get quite bored in the evenings my wife is pregnant so goes to bed at 9, I have a laptop but can't go on the internet for more than 5 mins, I'm bored of the TV and Wii, I can't go out incase she needs me but what can I do to kill time I suggested getting a mistress but it wasn't well received!!

Have you tried SUDOKU? If you want to be mentally challenged.. Or try the educational games which can be played by 1 person.  Try camouflage, hide and seek, rush hour etc.. It'll make you go ga-ga and by the time your boredom weanes off it's already morning..

Other than that, you can also read something about parenting.  Since you're gonna have a new angel.  Well, if you're to exchange shoes with your wife's situation that'll make her feel extra special seeing my partner reading something about the how's and when's of being a parent..

Mistress?? Nuuhh.. Boring..

Model railways.

There are lots of variations and its now easy. No more complicated wiring and electronics (take a look at the Kato Unitrack system). Get some cheap stuff on Ebay, a base board and plenty of time.

As for size, you can go really small with Z gauge, or an N gauge layout could be built within a 6x3 foot area.

A lot of men do this, you can be as creative as you like. Building your own World.

If you get really good, there are lots of shows around the country, as well as plenty of magazines.

Read - baby care books might be appropriate, especially if this is your first bambino.

Get a jigsaw puzzle, if you've got a place to leave it set up for a few days until you complete it.

Take a home study course - art appreciation, computer programming, cooking, history, whatever.

Record your family tree, or study your family history.

I hate to read, but I've been reading Louis L'Amour books lately.  I never thought I would enjoy reading, but I actually get into his books.  You should pick one up.  They're only $5 at a bookstore.  Oh and they're westerns.
