  1. listen to music

  2. Hmm i broke my arm and i use to go for very long walks in the park to get some fresh air and rid free the pain in my arm

  3. On line games -  Card games, boardgames, etc.

He could sort pictures, you know all those snapshots you were going to categorize.

And yes walking will help with the pain, for some reason the more you walk the less pain.

Perhaps he could do research on something he has been interested in and never took the time to learn - the civil war, landscaping (plan a redo for the whole yard!)  He could learn a foreign language, you can get tapes from the library to learn any numbers of languages.

    Good luck.

  4. How about a crossword puzzle? They have some really nice ones that are pictures within pictures, Here's a link so you know what I am referring to.

  5. You can play board games. He can tell you which thing to move. Such as Sorry, or card games are fun. He can play games on the computer - ones that you download or games on the Internet.

  6. it depends which arm.

if its not his writing arm,

he can attempt drawing and painting,

or he could just go out for walks.

he could also assign himself with a project,

like attempting to write an autobiography or

    something like that (:

  7. Hi!  He could try loom knitting!  :)   Especially with the long Knifty Knitter looms, one end of the loom can be held down by an elbow or a weight.  The functioning hand then does all the work of loom knitting.  Just google loom knitting and you will find lots of information.  The booklets that come with the looms are not very good; however, there's lots of help on the internet. KK looms are large gauge and easy to start with.  I prefer the long looms because you can do more things with them, including double knitting.  The knit looks the same on both sides and the knitted fabric won't curl up.  As people become more adept, they often wish to try smaller gauge looms, many of which are available over the internet.  You can find KK round and long looms, such as a set of four sizes, for ~ $20 at Wal-Mart and other stores.  Look at some websites like A.C. Moore, Michael's, and especially Joann's and you will find 40% and 50% off coupons, so you won't have to pay full retail.  Since they come in sets of four, your husband's family members can try learning this along with him, which might really encourage him to keep trying.  Each of you could loom knit a square and them connect them together and you will have a wonderful, memory-filled afghan-type of blanket that you can all enjoy!  You can buy the KK looms individually, too, but the least expensive way is to buy a set of four and use a coupon.  Then four people can knit at once!  People have learned to use the less dominant hand when they are determined to learn this and other crafts.  It certainly does pass the time and he could make some very nice gifts and inexpensively, too.  Yarns are often on sale and yard sales are good places to look for cheap yarn, too.  Some people even take apart free or inexpensive knitted sweaters and recycle the yarn!  Christmas is coming!  Maybe your husband can have a PILE of gifts to give by then.  Also birthdays, etc., and many people make small hats for preemie babies, small blankets to take to animals shelters so each frightened creature may have his own little blanket.  :)   There are many organizations that help in similar ways.  So, loom knitting is definitely not a time waster!  Many happy recipients and it feels great to be able to give and help others.  I hope this helps.  Just look around on the internet. Can you let us know if this helps your husband?  Good luck!  :)

    Best wishes,

    Poozemom  in Pa.  :)
