Ok I play street hockey once probably every two weeks with my friends. I am looking to get a new hockey stick, and I am not sure about what level I should get i.e. JR, SR, INT. I am about 5 3". I also need to know what blades can work with what shafts.

  1. ok, for street hockey i wouldnt go spending more that $75 bucks.  That will get you a good stick and won't kill you financially.  I am pretty much your size at 5'3", and if you weigh the same as me, like 120 lbs then you want to get an INT size stick.  JR will break too easily, and SN will be too stiff.  Blades will all pretty much work with any shaft, but if you just bring the shaft to the store with you they can help you out just incase.  Or you could buy a onepiece stick, that is always another option.

  2. Well there is no need to get a great stick for street hockey. I'd  say you should go with an int. shaft if you are 5'3. Usually Easton blades and shafts work together, but sometimes generic shafts work with many sticks and sometimes for example and Easton shaft will work with a Nike stick.

  3. 5'3 depends what you like im 6 even, and i use a smaller stick for shooting

BTW : street hockey ruins blades, so I  suggest you dont spend too much for a stick!

just buy a plain old Mylec curve stick

  4. look for the cheapest Canadian Tire special

  5. I would go with a Jr or Int. - the Sr. will be too stiff, and your hands likely aren't big enough to handle it properly. As far as what blades can work with what shafts, it's just a matter of determining whether if the shaft or blade is tapered or not. Tapered blades/shafts give you a better shot release and increased accuracy, but for occasional street hockey it's not worth the expence. Outdoor surfaces do wear out blades pretty quick so you want to go with something that has ABS, a plastic that responds like fibreglass. A pure plastic blade like Mylec or Inglas is descent for occasional use, but if you care about your game, get something like a Koho MVP stick.
