How can you become offsides in hockey?

What are the blue lines and the line behind the goal?

Or a puck is out of play?

  1. If you proceed the puck carrier over the blue line you are offsides. The line behind the goal is the icing line.

A puck out of play "usually" results in a face off at the nearest face off dot...but there are a lot of different scenario's...including intentional delay of game.

  2. You are offisides if you pass the other teams blue line before the puck does.  The blue lines are used to determine offsides, are the offensive zone, and are 64 feet from the goal line.  The lines behind the goal are the zone that the goalie is allowed to play the puck in, if the goalie isnt in the blue crease, or in the zone , behind the net they are allowed to be considered a player, and can be checked. A puck is out o fplay if it goes into the stands, into the benches, or hits the netting behind the two nets.
