I am 15 years old, and i am wanting to do some summer excercises to keep in shape, and get stronger for the next hockey season. What are some good plyometrics to do?? I am already shooting and passing and stuff with the tape 2 tape thing, but are there any other things to help me get better??

  1. a good way to exercise is through running and jumping rope. running increases your stamina, endurance and agility while jumping rope helps build up your leg muscle, shoulders, and it gets your breath going.

a good exercise program is jumping rope (fast and till you get to 25) and then putting it down and doing suicides. if you don't know what suicides are, they are when you start at point A, run to point B, back to A, to point C, to A, to point D, and finally back to point A again. this will really get your blood going.

if you can, it will also be a good idea to lift some weights.

of course, any on-ice time you can get really helps. go to a public skate and do sprints or something. your usually allowed to skate backwards and do sprints at center ice, away from everyone else.

hope this helped, and good luck!

  2. I agree with the other guys.

I'll also add wrist and forearm curls for strength and stretching exercises. Maintaining and improving flexibility is very important for avoiding injuries.

  3. Hey, i'm 15 too. I play for my varsity team. The best things to do is.......

Lift Weights / Gain Weight with Protein Shakes (MAJOR)

    Shoot Pucks

    Stick Handle

    Run

    Going to Hockey Camps

  4. Seriously, run. Join the cross country team in the off-season. You be a lot faster on the ice and have way more endurance.

  5. I'm in the same situation..

I am joining the cross country team (like the other guy suggested) and I also train my core. really focus on abs, legs, chest, and back. Especially abs though because that is what connects your upper body to lower body. You can also do a lot of balance training with exercises balls and that kind of thing. I would consult a personal trainer for that kind of stuff though because you want to do it the right way or it wont help at all.  Try running hills, stadiums and things like that. Most of all just work hard and you will get the results you want!!!

Definitely try to get in good enough shape to join cross country too because I have been training 30 miles a week and the next time I got on the ice I had already noticed a big difference in my endurance.

    Good Luck!!
