  1. It's no longer being made, but I use the CCM 852 Custom Fit Super Tack for playing in net and have never regretted it. Fits my foot great, is very protective and lightweight.

I don't know much about RBK goalie gear, but would think it's somewhere between the 5K and 7K

  2. Without trying to sound like your mum, try both pair on and go from there; see which one feels better on your foot.

The comments about Bauer being good skates are spot-on; they make great stuff.

RBK; I've heard good and bad.

My experience is that CCM skates (which is part of RBK) have a wider footbed than Bauer; if you have a wide foot RBK/CCM "might" be a more comfortable option.  Specifically, I found that a CCM "E" width was wider than a Bauer "EE" width.

My usual advice to anyone getting into hockey (esp. goaltenders) is don't scrimp on skates; if they're uncomfortable you will be miserable and it will hurt your overall game.

    Good luck either way.

  3. go with the bauers. i play goalie myself and i use the bauer x*x. bauer is a great and trustable brand that will stay in good shape for a long time. rbks are more popular but have a lower quality.

  4. im a goalie and i use bauer and so far they have lasted me i think 2 years, there really comfy also

  5. try on both and see what you like better.

  6. I haven't skated on RBK's goalie skates yet, but the forward skates I had were very weak and soft, I ended up having to take them back to the store because the tongues of both boots ripped all the way through and the top 3 eyelets of both boots disintegrated (sounds weird, I know, I couldn't believe it either). Back when I played goalie, I used CCM UltraTacks (or whatever the model was, it's been a while) and had great luck with them. Bauer typically runs a bit narrower on the foot than CCM (which makes RBK), so be sure to try them both.

Don't buy online unless you've tried the skates on at the store first, then shop around for an internet deal.

Also, and I made this mistake, if you're still growing, you might consider used skates because you do not want to buy skates that are too big, you'll get blisters and your mobility will suffer.

    Good luck!

  7. I'd go with the bauer ones my friend is a goalie and uses bauer skates and they've lasted him a long time

  8. you definitely want Bauer SKATES, and as far as money goes, if you want to save a bunch of money, get used skates, they are just as good, easier to break in...and they last just as long, no problems with them...and they are much cheaper
