Hockey pitch revealed for London 2012 Olympic Games
The London Olympics Organizing Committee has recently revealed to the world the hockey pitch that will be used in the London 2012 Olympic Games. The unveiling demonstration took place in the city of Stratford. The hockey field for the Olympics will be bright
blue in colour, makinf it unique.
As of now, the pitch has been vigorously tried and tested by professional hockey players from all across the world in order to pin point any short comings in the pitch. There is still ample time before the international prestigious sporting event takes place
next year, a total of 276 days to be exact, and the pitch is being rigourosly tested for any faults in manufacturing or otherwise.
A member of the GB women’s international, Alex Danson, made the following comments at the prospect: "The brighter the ball is, the better you can see it. The pitch is great to play on too; it's really quick and true and enables us to play with confidence.
I can't wait! If you close your eyes and imagine 16,000 people cheering for you, that's like a 12th and 13th player.”
The hockey centre where the Olympic matches will be held features an impressive display of two pitches. One of these pitches will be used for the purpose of hosting a total of 76 matches at the Olympic 2012 Games next year. On the other hand, the other pitch
will be used for training purposes for a total of 380 athletes. These athletes will be a part of the 24 teams that will comprise of both women as well as men.
The stadium is built to cater to a huge amount of spectators at the Olympic Games. In all, it can seat a total of 780,000 people in its benches.
The city of London is playing host to the Olympic Games for the third time in its history. After having successfully conducted the Games, London will become the first city in the world to have the honour of welcoming the Games in its soil thrice.
