  1. Also make sure you got the right size. Many people wear skates too big, often thinking that skates will fit true to shoe size. This may be true for Mission, but it's certainly not the case in other brands. I for one wear a size 11 street shoe (Nike Air Huarache) but a 8 1/2 in my beloved CCM Super Tacks.

Waxed laces will stay tighter longer and skating barefoot will give you a better feel for the skate - but just be sure to have Febreeze or other odour killers handy for afterwards

  2. thats not something to worry about really, ive been playing elite level hockey for the past 10 years and almost always have to tighten my skates during a game. try a waxed lace, the wax coating on the outside grips to the eyelets causing them to stay tighter for a longer period of time. if that doesnt work, check to see if the skates are the proper size. a skate that is too large can feel like its getting loose all the time.

importan note: DO NOT wrap the laces around the ankle. it can break the boot, especially the tendon guard causing your skates to break down faster.

  3. Try "Wax" laces they stay tighter. Also try using a skate lace key to make them as tight as possible. Last off try and tie them around your ankle once before knotting them!!!

Also Skating barefoot is a good way to keep them tighter and that also keeps your toes warmer(since socks hold in sweat which freezes on ice)

  4. Get new laces, the kind with wax on them if you can I can promise that if you do that it will completely solve the problem.

  5. i have the skates where you just turn the dial to fit your comfort its easy and its fast.

  6. i would suggest new laces every couple of months or so...and the rbk pump skates will keep your feet snugger, longer or ccm vectors have loops so that the laces dont loosen

  7. Grow some muscles and tighten your flipping skates if they get loose.  Do it more than once in the locker room and on the bench if you need to in the middle of a game.  But seriously, grow some muscles.

  8. Waxed laces are a good idea, especially when u lace them backwards, meaning that on a few eyelets, thread the lace from the outside towards the inside.

Also, it might make a difference to warm your skates up before tightening them really tight. Since I like my skates extra tight, I usually tighten them, then warm up to get the gel in my skates warmed up, and to warm up the stiff leather, then I re-tighten them before the start of the game, so i know i have warmed up, stretched out boots that are tightened.

  9. skate barefoot it feels a lot better
