Question:

Hockey stop?

I can ice skate ok and ive always tryed to do that hockey stop thing, but i never seem to quite get it! Any tips or suggestions?!

  1. Can you do a snowplow stop?  You have to learn that before anything else.  A snowplow stop is where you point your toes in with your heels out.  After you learn that, do the same but with your feet together.


  2. When you do a hockey stop, you have to turn your hips quickly sideways while keeping your feet together.  The quick snap is the most important part.  If you twist slowly, you won't really get the snap needed for the stop.  You actually have to lean back just a little with most of your weight on your front foot.
