I have tried out for the AAA team for the past two seasons and have not made it. Although i play for the AA team i would like to take my game to the next level. What can i do to make myself a better goalie in the summer? I already play catch a lot to improve my hand-eye coordination, but what else an i do to improve my game?

  1. You could try having a friend stand behind you and throw a tennis ball at a wall in front of you. You than have to try to stop the tennis ball. It's like what Jimmy Craig did in "Miracle". This will vastly improve your reaction time. You should also try to hit a couple of goalie camps that include ex-goalies.

  2. go to more hockey classes and goalie classes. plus work out a little more to get stronger. and keep up playing catch.

  3. we tried this with our goalie last season, and it really did seem to help. get some padding on as well as a paintball mask. you dont want to wear your goalie equipment cuz its gonna get really dirty. also you should get an old blocker and a baseball glove. set up a net with a sheet of plywood behind it to show it the paintballs have been making it past you. get your buddies to get a paintball gun and get them to stand 30 to 40 yards away and start shooting, try not to let any hit the plywood. this will improve hand eye coordination and fast thinking alot. not to mention, if you can stop a tiny paintball going 300 feet per second, stopping a puck should be a little easier

  4. try this...

  5. you should ask the coach of the team your trying out for to tell you what you need to improve on and get better at. and tell him it means a lot for you to make the team... and then just keep practicing and improving and you'll make it!
