West Bromwich Albion's boss Roy Hodgson was pleased to guide the Baggies to their first win at Anfield in 45 years, after they edged Liverpool 1-0 in a league match on Sunday.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 struck late for his side to lift them to the top-ten in the league table and in the process, also ended the Reds unbeaten run against the Baggies at Anfield, which lasted almost five decades.
Hodgson, who suffered a troubled six months period with the Reds, took over at West Brom in February last year. He coached Liverpool for just 31 games, which is the shortest reign for any manager in the club’s history.
However, the former Fulham manager expressed his satisfaction over his side’s historic win against the Reds. He underlined the fact that not many would have fancied their chances, before the start of the game, as they were up against a club with a better
financial position and who had world class players in their dugout.
Hodgson told reporters: “The major satisfaction is winning at Anfield. With the team we have, with respect, I don’t think that most people expect us to come and win at Anfield.”
“We know how difficult it is to get results here but 45 years is another hoodoo laid to rest.”
Hodgson received a warm reception from the Liverpool fans before the start of the game, and the Englishman thanked the crowd for their hospitality.
"I’d have been a bit disappointed if it had been otherwise because I’ve got a lot of respect for Liverpool fans but it’s always nice that they showed that sort of courtesy."
The win against Liverpool elevated the Baggies into the top-ten and placed them just a point adrift of the Merseyside team.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s woeful Premier League campaign took another dip, as they failed to convert from multiple goal scoring opportunities during the course of the game.
Hodgson admitted that Liverpool looked the better of the two teams for a major portion of the game, and that his side rode their luck to get the result.
"It’s always enjoyable to win even if you need a bit of luck on your side to achieve the win.”
