I've heard from some of my Filipino co-workers that Soft Bank phones work when you call the Phillipines from elsewhere even if they do have bad reception.

I am presuming you know how to text but don't know how to send it to another country.

It is just the same as normal except the phone number requires an international dialling code and a country code in front of the phone number. Your provider also needs to allow you to have international dialling.

You don't say where in the world you are so giving you the international dial code may not be helpful.

On mobile phones (hand phones/cell phones), use + for the international dialling code no matter what country you are in, then the country code 63 for the Philippines then the phone number without the zero ie many Philippines phone numbers start with 09. So 09 becomes 9.

To put it all together, use

+639XXXXXXXXX

use your cell here in US, I am using prepaid tracfone to text its cheaper.  Although I have t mobile which its works also. use 011639XXXXXXX to text.

I had a regular t-mobile phone and you can just text like that. It's simple but cost .50 cents per text to send and .25 cents to receive. You should make sure of your plans though, you never want to pay over extra.
