When a plug is plugged into an electric outlet. How does it catch on fire?

  1. For a plug to catch on fire it must be faulty. Assuming it is faulty, electricity arcs between the contacts creating sufficient heat to produce flame, which is usually the insulation burning on the wire. This can spread to the plug housing as well. If a plug catches fire or stinks, it should be replaced with a certified safe plug appropriate for that device.

  3. simple....  u spill water or any other liquid substance on it .... mainly oil .... like flammable stuff .... it reacts o the electricity or something!!!! ^_^   or the circuit is overloaded!

  4. If the circuit is overloaded, that can cause a fire.
