  1. The only person who can answer this accurately is a professional, who will have to look at your place to assess the extent of the damage.

I suggest getting quotes (estimates) from three or four people; don't just go with the first quote you get. Do you know someone in the profession? Can a friend or neighbor recommend someone they trust and whose work they thought was good?

My sister got four quotes, and said she could tell just by talking to these people which were truly knowledgeable and which were not. She didn't go with the lowest bidder, nor the highest. She was very satisfied with the work.

    EDIT:

The reason I was trying to discourage you from doing this yourself is that there may be health hazards involved. Depends on the type of mold and the state of your health. If your already have allergies or any kind of pulmonary disease, you would be more at risk. And some molds can be deadly. The people who clean this stuff up often wear haz-mat suits.

You do realize that a professional will give you a quote for free, don't you?
