Hoffenheim coach Marco Pezzaiuoli to leave the club after the end of season – official report
Bundesliga club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/TSG-1899-Hoffenheim-c40767 has announced that the current team coach, Marco Pezzaiuoli, will leave the club at the end of 2010/11 season. The club broke the news with an official announcement. It has also been suggested that St Pauli manager, Holger
Stanislawski, will replace Pezzaiuoli for the upcoming season.
This Saturday, Hoffenheim lost 3-2 to Freiburg and while talking to the media, sporting director of the club Ernst Tanner said, "The situation after the coaching change and the departures in the winter was certainly not easy for Marco Pezzaiuoli and the
club," before adding that the board was already thinking of making some changes ahead of the next season. However, Tanner also added that he would expect the team to perform better and win the last few games of this season in order to finish the term on a
high.
Pezzaiuoli replaced current Schalke manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick, during the winter break but his team has struggled to improve under his leadership. As things stand, Hoffenheim occupy 10th spot in the Bundesliga standings with 37 points but the side
has managed to win just one game in their last 8 matches, a run that had already put Pezzaiuoli under a lot of pressure. On 12th March 2011, Hoffenheim managed to beat league leaders Borussia Dortmund 1-0 and it was widely thought that the misfiring
unit had finally returned to winning ways. However, the win turned out to be a false dawn as they lost to Hannover before drawing 0-0 at home to Hamburg. The final nail in the coffin was put when they lost 3-2 to Freiburg.
The coaching stint at Hoffenheim was the first Bundesliga experience for the 42-year-old. Before that, the German had stints with German U-16, U-17 and U-18 sides.
With just five games left in the current season and Hoffenheim far from the relegation battle, the club directors wisely decided to let Pezzaiuoli complete the ongoing season.
This is the 16th coaching change in the Bundesliga this season,  an alarming statistic for a league that has seen one of its most unpredictable seasons ever.
