Hogg not thinking beyond T20 cricket – Cricket News Update
With speculations surrounding http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bradley-Hogg-c59047, has added his say on the saga claiming that it is a bridge too far for the spin wizard, while further ruling himself out of playing the longer version, along with the fifty-over format.
Hogg has become a prominent figure for club and country over the past 12 months, despite retiring from the game over 4 years ago. He made a sparkling entry in the opening season of the Big Bash league, which prompted the Aussie management to consider him for their T20 bouts, which included an appearance in the World T20, staged in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 this September.
The 41-year-old is still going strong as he featured for the Perth Scorchers in the opening game of BBL 2 against the Adelaide Strikers. His next task will be to stop Warne-led Melbourne Stars, which also suffered an overwhelming defeat in their first encounter of the current season against cross town rivals Melbourne Renegades.
Despite Warney making a disastrous start with figures of 0-41 in 2 overs, the legendary leg-spinner has reiterated that he is in perfect shape and could still perform for the national team. It was further reported that Warne had met current skipper, Michael Clarke, who was keen to have him on board.
However, Hogg feels that playing T20 cricket is different to other formats where it gets considerably tough for older players beyond the first day.
“I’m 41, Warney’s 43. You might get through the first day. But if you had to come back a second day and bowl for a session and a half, that’s where the older blokes would struggle,” Hogg said
“If you’re in a third Test match as well…nah, it’s ridiculous to think about it.”
The veteran spinner was simply pleased to be going strong and enjoying the game.
“I’m bowling well, it’s just a matter of getting the results on the board,” Hogg said. “It’s just been a great year. I’m 41 going on 42 and I’m still able to play the game at this level. I have to thank my teammates.”
