  1. Hohenfels is not far a way from Bamberg. So this is in Bavaria south of Germany. The weather I can just tell you right now rainy and very very cold. For Friday perhaps snowing also in the towns. I'm in Grafenwoehr also US Army.

We have the big huge PX/Commissary here right now, but it's a boring place, so much forest and little towns round here.

If you want to see something special, you need to drive to the big cities round here. Many people like here, so quiet, but not me.

Good luck for you, and if you want you can contact me for some more questions.

  2. Hohenfels (and Grafenwhor) seem to have it's own weather system.  Because it is a major training area, the weather is usually wet and cold (if it ain't rainin', we ain't trainin').  But there is so much near there.  Regensberg (already said) is not far and Nurnberg is also pretty close.  Bamberg isn't far away either, so you won't be too far from your old stompin' grounds.

    Enjoy your stay in Germany.

  3. Hey.. Im in Hohenfels also. It is a very very small post. There isnt much to do here, but you can volunteer to help out with fundraisers or go on trips. FRG, which is Family Readiness Group, is where you volunteer to help with Christmas times, with cooking for a big dinner for all the soldiers here.  Some of these are free. There is this place called Regensburg thats about an hour away from Hohenfels. Its a really nice place. You can look it up on the net, regensburg.com. Theres alot of things to see there. I dont know how to post a link, but youcan check it out.

The weather in Hohenfels basically cold, rainy and gloomy.

  4. I was just there last weekend, it's the a$$ of the world but Nürnberg and Regensburg are not far away, so it's okay. The weather is "special", it can be sunny out of post but on post it's foggy, lol. Don't know why that is. Lots of forest there. It's not that big but I like it there. But without a car you're screwed if you wanna see something else.
