Can anyone give me some their thoughts on the area, what cities they liked, and how they liked it in general? Also what is the foreign population like in that part of Japan?

Also for those that have done JET, what areas were you posted in and how did you like it?

  1. Click "Hokkaido Region" in this blog.

  2. I visited my friend in Furano in 2006, and together we went to the Yuki Matsuri(snow festival) in Sapporo.

Furano is a beautiful little country village, with only one bank.

I only saw it in winter, but my feeling of that city is that it is a quaint town.

Sapporo is also easygoing with lots of excellent fresh seafood restaurants. It is also a very easy city to navigate. It is a rectangular grid with Odori Park being the centre.

  3. Very conservative people there are  even in big city like Sapporo.

Sapporo is like Seattle or Toronto.

Other rural small city and town are very rustic and provincial.

Less than one percent of foreigner population there, very very few only except winter time in Niseko where many Aussie skiers enjoy play skiing.

Sapporo is only and best place you live. The rest are all natural but dull to live.
