Question:

Hold 'em hand rank (part 2)?

Here's a hypothetical situation for a hold 'em game:

Two players are left and the flop is A, Q, J, 10, and 9, all spades.

Player A has an 8 and a 3, both diamonds.

Player B has a 7 and a 3, both hearts.

Now, the highest hand is the flush in the flop, but player A has the higher card in his hand...So in this situation do they split the pot or does player A get the whole thing?

(I know, with the cards they're holding they both should have folded long ago but it's just for an example...LOL)

  1. Theres no flush on the flop here....after 4th & 5th there is....neither player is connected in anyway to the board, which beats both...

    split pot...............

  2. they split with high card ace

  3. The best hand possible is the flush.  Neither player has a card that can improve upon the board (the community cards; flop, turn and river).  Therefore it is a split pot.

In fact even if Player A had the eight of spades, it does not beat the five cards on the board, so it would still be a split pot.

  4. player A

  5. This is a split pot between the players.

In holdem, only the best five cards are used to make the final hand at showdown. Since the Board is the best hand, then both players automatically play that hand, and they both win, or split the pot.

  6. They split the pot.

It does not matter what cards they have unless it gives one of them a straight flush! Either the King of spade or Eighth of spade! They can`t get a higher flush!

  7. If there is a flush on the board, and no one has something to add to it (higher spade), then they would split the pot.
